Riders must attend at least 2 out of the 3 selection shows to be considered. For U12s, because of Pony Club clashes, 1 out of 2 selection shows must be attended.

From the 3 selection shows all selectors will independently number their choices in each age group from the strongest to weakest combinations. These lists will then be collated, by the committee. The scores from the 3 selectors will be put together into a master list with the strongest rider/ pony combination, in the opinion of the selectors, at the top and weakest at the bottom. The selectors will decide how many, from each age group, they wish to invite to the squad session. It is anticipated that 8-10 riders will attend for U12 and U14s, at least 12 for U17s and at least 15 for Open.

For team selection, the selectors will choose the top ranked 4 riders in all age groups. The trainer will select the 5th rider and 6th, reserve, rider. In the event of injury or illness necessitating withdrawal of a rider or pony from the team, the reserve combination will be offered the place, and the new reserve will be selected by the trainer. In the unusual event of a further withdrawal from the team, a replacement reserve will be decided by the trainer, if possible, from the ranked riders at the Squad Session.

England Kit

There will be kit forms available after the squad session and online for you to order any kit required if you are selected.

England MGA will endeavour to contribute financially towards kit this year.

Feedback

All riders who have been to the squad session are, in the opinion of the selectors, worthy to ride for England.

The Committee will provide feedback from the documentation gathered over the selection shows and squad session if requested, on why, in the Team Selectors opinion, the rider was /was not successful. Hopefully this will be a guide on what to work on for next year.

Those wishing to have feedback should email;

englandmga@gmail.com allowing 21 days for us to collate information and reply.

Code of Conduct

All riders selected will sign and agree the terms of the Code of Conduct. For riders under 18, a parent or guardian will also be required to sign a Code of Conduct on behalf of the rider. We will be stricter on the terms of the contract this year so please do not complain if you breach these terms and are disciplined. We aim to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all riders and ponies and make sure that England teams represent themselves well at the events.

We regard our riders as elite sports men and women who should act accordingly when representing their country at all times including at ceremonies and social events at competitions.

A Ground Jury is to be appointed by England MGA to oversee the whole selection process and Squad Session. This Ground Jury will act under the MGAGB disciplinary code providing an appeal system through MGAGB. The Ground Jury will deal with matters such as social media abuse and can impose sanctions ranging from a verbal warning to a ban on representing England MGA for up to 3 years. Parents' action could have an impact on their children's eligibility for selection.

Any grievance or complaint should not be directed personally to trainers or selectors but must be addressed solely through the England MGA Committee via email; englandmga@gmail.com
